This study abroad continuing education trip allows individuals the opportunity to broaden their understanding of Traditional Korean Medicine and South Korea’s culture while earning 25鈥30 NCCAOM PDAs (Pending) for Licensed Acupuncturists. Open to 黑料社 current students, faculty, and staff members, as well as acupuncture students from other accredited universities and licensed acupuncturists outside of the 黑料社 community, this 11-day journey offers a unique blend of education and cultural immersion. Participants will visit Wonkwang University to attend lectures given by faculty members on this ancient practice, followed by excursions to explore hospitals in various regions of the country. The journey culminates in Seoul, offering an unforgettable experience that participants will carry with them long after returning home!

What is Included?

Accommodations and Meals

Steps to Join Our TKM Trip

The initial deposit to secure your spot on the trip is a non-refundable $100. This can be paid on the registration & payment form.

Review the TKM Trip costs, fees, and recommended spending money amount. Trip payment installments are available upon request, and trip must be paid in full 30 days prior to trip departure date.听

  • Personal Spending Money $400 – $600 (this is just a recommendation for purchasing snacks and gifts)

However, please note that this trip may pose challenges in accommodating specific dietary restrictions due to the variety of dietary practices and the limited availability of specialty food items in South Korea.

If you have any dietary restrictions, it is important to understand that we cannot guarantee your dietary needs will be fully met during the trip. This trip is not recommended for those following a strict vegan diet.

TRIP FAQ's

What and where is the opportunity?

  • Eleven days of continuing education trip to Wonkwang University in Iksan, South Korea.

Who is eligible for this study abroad opportunity?

  • 听Any second or third year Acupuncture program student who is in good academic standing and has a valid passport with no travel limitations. All didactic and clinical requirements for the summer term must be completed prior to the trip. Licensed acupuncturists may also attend for NCCAOM PDA credits.听

How many individuals can attend the trip?

  • There are up to 15 spots; this will be first come, first serve based on registration, and the initial $100 deposit will be made.

What will be studied?

  • 听Traditional Korean Medicine (TKM) including acupuncture and herbs. Study will include time in the classroom and hospital. Sight seeing and cultural events may also be part of the trip.

What will be provided on the trip?听

  • Room, board, meals and tuition expenses. Airfare is NOT covered and is the responsibility of each student.听

How much money should you bring to study abroad in South Korea?

  • We recommend bringing $400-$600 for spending money and for any sightseeing trips.

Can Current Students Federal Financial Aid used to cover trip costs?

  • This can be done in most cases.听 Currently, enrolled 黑料社 students should contact the Director of Financial Aid at [email protected] to discuss options for receiving federal funds to cover trip costs.听 Students attending another institution need to contact the Financial Aid Office at their school to see if the trip costs can be accommodated in their school’s Cost of Attendance budget.听 Only currently matriculated students can be considered for Financial Aid so there is no aid available for alumni.
